In January 2020, BTM Electrical commenced with sports lighting upgrades for seven football ovals and a soccer field across Mornington Peninsula Shire in Victoria, Australia.
BTM are a leading electrical contractor and are a regional installer for Halliday Lighting. They were awarded this project in partnership with sports contractors Turf One following a successful tender submission to Mornington Peninsula Shire Council. The initiative to upgrade floodlights for sports facilities across the Peninsula was made possible due to funding received by the local council from the Victorian Government’s Growing Suburbs Fund.
The installation of sports lighting for these fields provides the ability to use the grounds for longer periods of time. This increases the opportunities for evening and winter training and games for the local sporting community.
The extended hours of use will also help a number of clubs to expand their membership with additional junior and women’s teams.
Some of the clubs who will benefit from the upgraded facilities include Tyabb Junior Football Club and Mornington Peninsula Junior Football Club.
Not only were new floodlights needed to create playing opportunities, but some existing lighting was non-compliant for the sports which take place on the field. The upgraded floodlights achieve the correct lighting levels ensuring safety and comfort for the people using these sporting reserves.
Brandon Murphy of BTM Electrical says: “It is great to see investment being put into upgrading sports reserves to create compliance and provide additional playing opportunities for local communities. With the floodlights from Halliday Lighting, we are confident in the product we have installed and we look forward to hearing how clubs across the Peninsula are able to develop under their new lights.”
